Description

Condition:  Used, pre-owned music album, 33rpm, LP vinyl record.
Grading:  We are not known for selling vinyl records on Ebay, we mostly have train and bus items. We may not grade on expert level like Goldmine standards and like many music stores on Ebay do.

Vinyl record: There is no actual vinyl here...only the album cover is being sold in this auction.

Description:  Original vinyl album release for a rap music compilation of 1980's songs. The album title is "Genius of rap" released in 1982 on Island records. The vinyl record is NOT here, we are only auctioning the album cover and the rollsign pieces. What makes this album very unique is the way a subway train from the #4 line and from early 1970's is used on both the front and back covers.  Considering the music is 1980's related, why would they not use  photos of trains in the 1980's?  Who knows, the photos shown has rare graffiti on IRT cars that had to be from 1972 or 1973, by 1974 all of the IRT cars on the 1 to 6 lines were painted silver and blue, so all the original graffiti painted on those red cars was gone over.

You are bidding on the actual album cover only and the three different rollsign strips shown. There is NO vinyl record here in this auction, only the album cover from the music part. All in one bundle, not divided up.
Front cover:  Photo shows a collage on the left hand side of early graffiti on train station walls and then the main  image of a train in silver and blue and part of red car # 8714 We can determine that photo is from someplace in The Bronx, along the #4 subway line Condition is good, no writing on it, no smudges. Has a small label in upper right corner that has been written over.

Back cover:   Shows silver and blue IRT car #7546 that has early graffiti on there. Full image and scenery of 1970's NYC in The Bronx and has all the song titles and credits. Check the bottom right corner, the street sign seems to say "River Ave", that has to be  the #4 line not very far from Yankee Stadium. No ringwear or writing.  No cut corners. Has some creases on the right side edges and kind of bent in bottom right corner. The main image of the train and scenery is clean, no smudges on there.

This is not a CD copy, only the original release album cover how it was released in 1982. If you want the vinyl music, you can get that on Ebay.  These make for nice wall art decoration for your model train room or any design area you want..You get rollsign strips for the deal also.
If you like old subway history and/or graffiti things from the 1970's, this maybe something you would like for your collection.
Artist: Compilation album, no specific artist to mention Title: Genius of rap Catalog # ISSP 4007 Label: Island Records, based in the UK Release year:  1982
Plus you also are bidding on the three IRT rollsign strips cut from old cloth side destination rollsigns now no longer used for many years.  These are probably from 1947.  These are very worn out condition. They will be shipped by folding them in half and putting in the plastic sleeve we use to protect the album.. There will be a fold crease in the middle of each rollsign section, will not be mailed rolled up.
You can add some more authentic IRT related train items to your collection at the same time.
The rollsign sections you would get are IRT train related stations for the #4 line and the #2 and #5 trains. The signs say:
167st - Jerome Ave.  ( a station on the #4 line ) Lex-Jerome Av Exp  East 180th St.  ( main location for the #2 and #5 train in The Bronx )
You would be bidding on all 4 items together, not one at a time or in any combination otherwise.
For more New York City subway related items, we do have interior car posters, number boards, rollsigns, etc...all posted at our Ebay store. Check out our other items. If you buy any other item, we cannot combine shipping if the item is large and won't fit in the box we are using to mail this album and rollsigns.

If you like more 1970's and 1980's related subway photos like this on IRT Lines and other letter lines, we suggest you check out the "Making All Stops", subway photo book series.  The webpage is the same name as the title.  It's hardcore NY train history and would be a good item for your reading collection.
