Description
All Things Must Pass original 1970 UK pressing - the earliest possible version!!
There are many variants, but the earliest boxes are confirmed to have had a small USA logo printed on the inner lid and no US Apple address beneath the main credits.
And the earliest labels had 'Recorded in England' on discs 1 and 2, with no 'Mecolico' credits.
This copy, therefore, is quite rare as it has the earliest discs in the earliest box! Variations of these combinations are very common. But there aren't that many like this.
The discs also have low stampers.
The matrixes are:
Side 1 YEX 817-1U (stamps) 2/RD Side 2 YEX 818 -1U (stamps) 2/RD Side 3 YEX 819 -1U (stamps) 2/RH Side 4 YEX 820-1U (stamps) 1/RD Side 5 YEX 821 -1U (stamps) 1/GG Side 6 YEX 822-1U (stamps) 2/RR
The condition of the box set, all round, is good though it does have flaws. Please read the full description and see the photos. Do ask if you have any questions. I'll try to gave an honest a breakdown below as i can so you know what you are getting...
The labels are good all-round. Only slight ring wear. The discs have been played but obviously looked after. The only minor blemishes are a small blue mark to sides 2 and 4. I'm not sure what it is - it's possible they could be carefully removed but I haven't tried.
The inner sleeves are very good all-round - all original. There is a very small tear to the base of the one for disc 2/3 and a very minor split to the side of 5/6. Slight creasing, as expected. But they are paper and 50+ years old. So still highly respectable.
Visually the vinyl is good ... side 1 is nice and clear, side 2 is good but does a hairline and three small scuffs... a few light marks to sides 3, 5 and 6. But only minor. The overall condition is good / very good.
The box is good. So many of these are knackered! It has a nice clear front picture and a good, solid readable spine. However the opening/closing hinge has come apart (common) and the top flap of the box lid has lifted away somewhat (though is still attached) with some age related split lines and what looks to be a small bit of sellotape. The box is also slightly warped, lifting upwards to each side - though all the contents still fit happily inside.
The albums plays through absolutely fine. A nice listen.
No poster, sadly.
So, in all, a not perfect but also perfectly respectable copy of a stone cold classic - and in its rarest UK form...
Low start price. I have owned this for a little while but never really listened to it.
I will pack the inner sleeves separately.
Thank you for looking.
*Please note that the postage quoted applies to the UK only. I don't mind sending elsewhere but obviously the price is likely to change.*
