Hand signed autograph from George Michael RIP, when he was in Wham. Written in either 1985/1986.
Some damage to the photo as it was on my bedroom wall for many years as a teenager, so there's pink Blu Tack marks on the back as well as some ' rippling' of the paper over Andrew Ridgley.
This was given to me by his uncle, also called George, when I was in 6th form in school.
Here's the story: George Michael's uncle, George, owned and ran a cafe in Coney Hall, near West Wickham, in the London suburbs called 'Omega Cafe'. It's actually still there, but I don't know if George is still there as I no longer live in London.
My friends and I spent a lot of time there, too much time in fact, drinking coffe and eating bacon sandwiches. Girls would come into the cafe from time to time, to ask George, the uncle, for George Michael's autograph. He always said no, but mostly because he never saw George Michael. Then one day, uncle George brought in some signed photographs, one for me and for my friends. He'd said there had been a big family get together the previous weekend, and he managed to get a couple of signed photos for us. He said it was because we'd never hassled him before to get an autograph.
Anyway, I wasn't there when George Michael signed the photo, but I did trust who gave it to me. I can't get a Certificate of Authenticity, but I have looked into that and it seems that some are worthless anyway, as many can be fake.
I have no idea how much this is worth but it would be nice if it could go to a true fan.
