Description
Purchased in Pittsburgh (Harrison's hometown) from a friend of John Harrison. Legendary writer, director, producer, and composer with many famous horror films/shows/scores to his name (Creepshow, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, Dune, Tales from the Darkside). He also toured with Bluesman Roy Buchanan, and played on several of his albums. Really a great dude. Anyway, John sent a promo copy of this soundtrack to his friend, along with a signed letter on his letterhead. The best part is that John included some really interesting details about his work in the letter! He talks about his work on Tales from the Darkside and about an upcoming (at that time) show he was working on called Scary Tales! He also discusses his thoughts on how his compositions for this Day of the Dead score turned out (let's just say he wasn't entirely complimentary about the work of the musicians playing his songs). Some really cool stuff in the letter. I'm not going to post photos of the entire letter because those secrets should be something unique that the new owner can look forward to possessing. But I have posted the signature, the letterhead, and a teaser of the content.

Grading Notes: All grades are based on Goldmine Standards.
It is my belief that a truly Mint Record does not exist outside of the pressing/packing plant. Seems like 90% of the time on these new records they shrinkwrap them too tight and you get a slight corner bump. That is not a Mint record. Certainly a used record cannot be considered Mint, but even most new records on a shelf in the store are not Mint. A Mint record would have to be perfectly processed at every stage (pressing, assembly, shrink wrapping, packing, shipping, transport, storage). To just presume a record is Mint because it looks nice upon cursory examination does a great disservice to the buyer.
I start at NM for new/sealed items and I begin grading one step below, at EX+ for used items. Grades I give for used vinyl/jackets are: EX, VG, G. And I use +/- for each. Items in G (+/-) will only be listed if the rarity of the item outweighs the condition.
My grading scale as it roughly corresponds to a scale of 1-10 is as follows:
M=10, NM=9.5, EX+=9, EX=8.5, EX-=8, VG+=7.5, VG=7, VG-=6.5, G+=6, G=5.5, G-=5, anything below 5 would be considered fair to poor.
I buy records online for my own collection and in my experience I grade much more conservatively than other sellers. I think that you will find my grading to be detailed and accurate, but of course there is always room for difference of opinion in a realm that is subjective. If you believe I have made a mistake in grading, please do not hesitate to contact me and I will do my best to make it right.
Shipping Notes: I ship all LPs in mailers specifically made for that purpose. I also reinforce and properly pad the mailer with corrugated inserts for added protection. If an item isn't sealed I always remove inner sleeves containing the records from the outer jacket and place both items into a poly sleeve to avoid seam splitting and minimize the risk of damage during transit. If a printed inner sleeve is used, I will typically place the record in a plain white sleeve and include the printed sleeve alongside it, so that it doesn't split during transit. I've had customers describe my packaging as "bomb proof" but the fact is, I'm a buyer too and I know the disappointment of receiving a poorly packaged LP with a jacket that was damaged in transit, so I just take a little extra time and care so that you don't have to worry.
