Description
First press (1956) mono version of the George Wellington Quintet's album "Jazz for the Carriage Trade". Catalog number Prestige 7032. Labels are yellow/black deep groove with the "446 W. 50th St.. N.Y.C." address. RVG in dead wax.
Line up is: George Wellington - piano; Phil Woods - alto sax; Donald Byrd - trumpet; Teddy Kotick - bass; Arthur Taylor - drums.
Graded cover/record VG/VG.
An enjoyable listen. Side 1 only has noise in soft moments. Side 2 has more during playback on some tracks, but nothing overpowering. Cover has a 5.5" seam split on the top and a 2.5" seam split on the bottom. Front cover has ring wear and other wear, while back appears to show some moisture. --
My grading scale is as follows:
M: This is a new and sealed record. For jackets, corners are sharp, and no creases or any other wear.
NM: The record looks basically new. No marks of any kind. Jackets will have no creases, folds, seam splits, cut-out holes, or other noticeable similar defects.
VG+: Will show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled (slight scuffs or very light scratches), but signs will be of a cosmetic nature. Any defects do not affect not playback. Jacket may have slight signs of wear, and may be marred by a cut-out hole, indentation, or cut corner.
VG: The record can have quite a few hairlines and maybe a few scratches. There will likely be noise (in passages or throughout), but the record will play through and be very enjoyable. Jackets may have seam partial seam splits, creases, rounded corners, or other wear.
G: A record can be played through without skipping, but will have noticeable scratches and/or groove wear that will result in surface noise and "ticks" that accompany the playback. A cover or sleeve will have complete seam splits, tape, writing, ring wear, or other significant defects will be present.
