Description
Rare vinyl pressing of Gilgamesh - Same out of the UK from 1975. The label is P. Virgin Records Ltd. / Caroline which I believe is a small offshoot of the Virgin Records label. Rare UK LP original...groundbreaking'Canterbury' jazz progressive fusion...related to 'National Health'. Produced by Dave Stewart. For fans of National Health, Hatfield And The North, Caravan, Soft Machine, Henry Cow and Gong, Gilgamesh follows similar traditions. We have: PHIL LEE - electric, acoustic, 12-string & classical guitars, ALAN GOWEN - piano, electric piano, clavinet, synthesizer, mellotron, JEFF CLYNE - double bass, bass guitar & MICHAEL TRAVIS - drums, percussion. Alan Gowen was a brilliant composer and keyboard player who had a knack for writing music that drew from the traditional Canterbury sounds and jazz and classical traditions. Alan later on went to form National Heath but here we have Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh features Alan's long time guitar side man Phil Lee who perhaps is better known in jazz circles than pop-progressive fans. Phil had a wonderful way of enhancing the ideas that Alan composed making them sound neither like your typical fusion recording or progressive rock recording. Cover is VG++. Small sawmark on top, small tear on upper left corner, very hard to see sticker mark on upper right, little bit of ringwear. It's not half as bad as it sounds. See scans. The vinyl is very nice. It will probably pass for near mint but I'll give it an EX.
( I ship on Saturdays. If you pay me after 1:30 p.m. on a Saturday, your l.p. will not be shipped until the next Saturday.)
Leave me feedback and I will return the courtesy. Delivery confirmation is a must and is worked into the cost of shipping. I accept Paypal only. Gold, precious stones and your first born can be negotiated. If paying by Paypal, payment is expected within 3 days unless other arrangements are made. Insurance will be provided upon request and is to be paid for by the customer. My overseas customers are very important to me and have given me a lot of support. However, I cannot be responsible for uninsured packages. I do pack well and in a professional manner with standard record mailers. I also place a cardboard support inside the mailer for protection and to help prevent any bending. Records are removed from their covers and both are placed in a protective, clear plastic outer sleeve. It's a tried and true method that has never been improved upon. I do offer refunds if the item you won is not as described. I ship every Saturday.
