Description
Rare and superb cushion rim Glitterite mouthpiece.
The number on the side says 9 (if you read the same way up as the lettering on the other side).
This could certainly be used as a screaming lead piece. The cup is maybe somewhere between 7 and 10 Bach cup, a bit shallower than C.
But it’s also great for jazz and solos.
The range is great and the sound in mid-register lovely and warm and great for big band vibrato and resonance.
Almost all the big band and swing players used to use cushion rims which give benefits for stamina and range. (I think the comments on the Vincent Bach guide to mouthpieces are misleading and based on prejudices against jazz and those who play it - VB says that cushion rims only work for “players with thick fleshy lips” who use “too much pressure”.)
Bunny Berigan used glitterite mps and was sensational, of course. (It would be nice to have his sound and swing without the premature decline and sad early death).
It’s also a lovely piece of Art Deco design.
Silver playing is perfect. I don’t know if it’s original but the engraving is deep and superb.
Pics may not show clearly but the script says “glitterite” and the capitals beneath say TRUMP. Unfortunately.
I think it’s underpriced at 75£
If you want to negotiate, please message me. I’m always happy to talk with other trumpet players (who else will talk with us?).
