Description
Gounod Faust Orig UK 1959 HMV ASD 307/10 Cluytens Complete Gold Cream 4 LPs NM!
Please read everything before bidding.
Here to offer is the original 1959 HMV recording on 4 LPs of Charles Gounod’s Opera “Faust” in beautiful condition, complete with the original libretto booklet.
All 4 records/vinyl are in Near Mint condition. Each record is housed in the original HMV factory inner sleeve with minimal creases, but clean and functional with no tears. All records are graded visually, and show hardly any sign of wear. To note: there is a very slight sleeve scuff or slight hairline scuff on sides 1 and 7. These do not seem to affect the grooves at all and are only seen under light and at an angle. Also, one of the inner sleeves shows age discoloration on one side. Both these imperfections I have noted are in the pictures.
The outer box I would grade as Very Good condition although it does have signs of wear. It is completely intact and can be opened and closed without problem. The cover is clean and glossy but is starting to show some slight pealing at one corner. There is some wear and cracking along the cover edge on the top and side. There is slight wear and tear at the corners of the spine as well. The box is still completely functional and the main taped hinge is without flaw, so it opens and closes well. The writing on the spine is gold, clear and intact. There is also the Gold EMI Stereophonic sticker on the front cover and a small address label attached on the inside. The inside is also stamped “Made and Printed in Great Britain”. Please see pictures for further inspection.
The enclosed original 35 page libretto booklet is in beautiful Near Mint condition. The front and back covers are clean and glossy without any sign of wear.
The original stiff cardboard separator is also enclosed.
· This historic HMV “His Master’s Voice” opera recording is an original release from 1959 conducted by André Cluytens with the soloists, chorus and orchestra of the Théatre National de L’Opéra staring Soprano, Victoria de Los Angeles, Tenor, Nicolai Gedda and Bass, Boris Christoff
I believe it would make a wonderful addition to anyone’s classical and opera record collection.

As a disclaimer: I am a musician and enjoy my modest collection of about 3500 records all in beautiful condition and many vintage turntables. I have always had positive reviews and feedback on eBay as a buyer and seller, but I haven’t sold anything in a few years as life has been busy. Please look at my feedback for confidence, although it is dated. I am slowly gaining the energy to start selling again. More records will be listed soon, so please check back. I will make sure the records are packed well and shipped promptly. Happy bidding. I will also consider any "buy it now" offers. Buyer pays shipping costs via USPS media mail. Please wait for an invoice before paying as eBay sometimes calculates incorrectly.
Thank you for looking. Conn31
