Description

Rudolf Graf came from a a family of singers (his father trained in Prague) and studied voice at the Richard Strauss Konservatorium with Margarita Harzer and then in Munich with Hanno Blaschke and Gerhard Hüsch. He sang at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and the Bühnen Hagen State Opera, before returning to his native Cologne and becoming the resident bass at the Köln Oper.

A rich, dark, rounded and luscious voice, like dark drinking chocolate, he is a renowned Konzertsänger. Here he is in an impossibly rare recording - part of the initiative Colonia Discografia, which made runs of LPs for local archival purposes - of Schumann's Dichterliebe and Wolf songs, accompanied by pianist Inge Heinermann on the Steinway.

For the collector of the male voice or the Dichterliebe completist, this is a one-off. You may never see this item again.
