Description

An original hard to find GF Red Album on original Capitol labels 1st press. Matrix H4/H4 - 1st cut. Stampers 1O/1L - really early in sequence. Comes housed in a non-laminated cover with original inner.
Vinyl (Ex-/Vg) Bit of a strange grading I'll grant you. The reason is the two sides are not playing at an equal standard [which is unusual!]. And one presumes side 2 has seen much more use than side 1 from testing. A few light marks per side and one trail mark on side 1 is visually more noticeable. But on testing nothing seems to be heavy or problematic. This copy is gonna be suitable for someone who understands the rarity aspect of this pressing and is perhaps prepared to compromise on the audio on side 2. Side 1 plays great - mostly up around NearExcellent. Nice clean bold sound. A couple of ticks in one spot a couple of crackles very occasionally. Basically - great with nothing to turn your nose up at. Side 2 - however - is not at the same standard. Thankfully GF are ripping up with the meanest bass ever - so the bit of crackle that appears in the audio signal doesn't impinge too much. BUT it is there all the same. And whilst you won't notice it so much when they are ripping it up. You will notice it more in the quieter moments like spoken word moments and certainly in the radio station section. I personally found the side 2 very enjoyable - but you will need to be a bit forgiving. The signal path is not clean like it is on side 1. So - that's the big test on this copy...can you deal with that more of a VERYGOOD level [at best] on side 2.
Cover (Vg) Perfectly acceptable relatively clean front and rear. Nothing unsightly. Some edge wear all round. A 2c.m. wear-through top edge. But not too bad at all really and very good rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) Light ageing. Bag present. No splits.
