Description

Right after releasing their finest achievement with the highly praised album From
The Mars Hotel in 1974, The Grateful Dead would take their creative improvisational
step even further a year later when they released this excellent first rate masterwork
that again proved that The Dead could still showcase creative ideas for there wall of
sound. Released in 1975, Blues For Allah offers us a unique, sparkling combination
of R&B, new artistic horizons, reggae, rock and world music which the band handles
with uplifting imagination and flawless integrity, in which they perform another set of
interesting songs filled with adventurous interplay and fascinating merit, which even
contribute to The Dead’s reputation as one of the most highly creative and idealistic
rock bands in music history. Beginning with the exhilarating opening track Help On
The Way/ Slipknot, the track set proceeds with exact style and fascination with other
memorable such as like the funk-driven Franklin’s Tower, the first rate instrumental
classic King Solomon’s Marbles (this one deserves to be a timeless standard in the
instrumental rock medium), The Music Never Stopped, Sage & Spirit, and even the
breathtaking mystic 13-minute conclusion Blues For Allah Sand Castles And Glass
Camels/ Unchecked Occupation. What also adds to the artistic magic of Blues For
Allah is that The Dead again presents another top drawer band camaraderie which
made it such a bonafide success, and what need to be added are a set of previous
unissued tracks that were once part of its expanded edition that include Groove #1,
Distorth, A To E Flat Jam, Proto 18 Proper and Hollywood Cantata, which gave it a
restored finishing touch. Robert Hunter even stated that the title track for the album
was an eulogy to Saudi Arabia’s King Faisel, who claimed that the king was a even
fan of The Grateful Dead (The King was assassinated by his deranged nephew the
same year). So here is another important milestone in The Grateful Dead’s legacy.
Note: Make sure you rip the bonus tracks Groove #1, Groove #2, Distorth, A To E Flat,
Proto 18 Proper and Hollywood Cantata, which just happens to be a serious part
 of the restoration of Blues For Allah.
