Description
At auction is a lot of 13 Grateful Dead albums (15 - if you include the ones that are part of 2-record sets). The LPs range from the band's self titled studio album all the way up through 1989's "Built To Last." The lost includes albums from all eras of the Dead and include both live and studio albums - a perfect way to start the young Deadhead in your family with a nice vinyl introduction to the band!
I consider myself pretty particular when it comes to grading, but I am by no means a professional. The grades below I think best represent the condition the albums / covers are in, but would be happy to answer any questions you have about any one of the albums in particular. I use a the light on my iPhone to look deep into each record in order to grade it -- so this isn't done in a dingy basement, I'm shining as bright of a light as I can, to hopefully give you the best description other than you seeing it with your own eyes!!
Note: these albums are *all* from my person collection (passed down from family members, bought myself, etc).
Finally: I'm doing my best to represent which pressing each album is (because I know how important that is to some collectors) and I am trying be as accurate as possible as I list each one - but some of these pressing are extremely confusing, so I'll try to be as accurate as possible. Again, feel free to message any inquiries about a particular pressing, and I'll answer any questions you have!
Now that we have all of that nonsense out of the way, onto the good stuff!
The records are (in no particular order):
1. Aoxomoxoa (WS 1970) 1971 Repress
Cover: VG+ (some slight wear in the corners of the cover, but a clean looking otherwise)
2. Anthem of the Sun (WS 1749) 1968 Original Pressing
Cover: G (The bottom of the cover is split, and there are visual ring marks on the cover
Records: VG (There's some thin visual lines & marks on the album, but nothing that signals a lower grade IMO)
Cover: G+ (there's some bubbling on the front and back cover, along with a few nicks - so I can't give this a VG rating).
4. From The Mars Hotel (GD 102) Original 1974 US Pressing with blue labels on record
Cover: G+ (Some evident ring wear on both the front and back cover along with some tiny nicks in the spine)
Record: VG
5. Live Dead (2WS-1830) 1973 Repress (Does *not* include booklet)
Cover: VG+ (The only thing taking away from this is a slight split in the upper right corner of first album jacket)
Record: VG+
6. Wake of The Flood (GD01) 1973 - Jacket variation with song listing on back cover
Cover: VG+
Record: VG+
7. Workingman's Dead (WS 1869) 1979 Reissue - Upside down back cover
Cover: VG (The *Only* reason this isn't VG+ is because a name is written on the front album cover, and some very tiny wear to the bottom of the spine - see photo for details).
Album: VG+ (I would honestly call this one NM, but because I'm not a professional, I'm going to air on the side of caution and say this is a VERY strong VG+)
8. American Beauty (WS 1893) - 1973 Repress
Cover: G+ (Some apparent shelfwear and a split in the upper right corner of the jacket)
Album: VG/VG+ (If there was a "somewhere in-between" for VG and VG+, this would likely be that example!)
9. Blues for Allah (GDLA-494-G) - 1975 - Includes Inner Sheet
Cover: VG (Some visual shelfwear, and a knick in the lower right side of the back corner - Inner sheet is in great shape!)
Album: VG (Some visual marks, but nothing deep into the grooves that would appear to impact play)
10. Dead Set (AL9 8112) - 1981 Original Arista Pressing
Cover: VG+ (Would be NM if not for the slightest ring wear on the back cover)
Album: VG+ (Both albums look in excellent shape)
11. Shakedown Street (ALB6-8321) - 19?? Repress
Cover: VG+ (If it wasn't for the most minor of shelfwear on the bottom of the cover, this would be NM for sure!)
Album: VG+ (Very clean and shiny, I'm tempted to go with NM, but will air on the side of caution once again!)
12. Built To Last (AL-8575) - 1989 BMG Record Club Pressing)
Cover: NM (It's really that clean)
Album: NM (There may be a professional who'll argue with me that this is VG+, but I'm hard pressed to find much wrong with this -- and I'm pretty picky -- no NM it is!!)
13. Go To Heaven (AL 9508) - 1980 Arista Pressing
Cover: VG+ (This would be NM if it wasn't for a slight rough patch on the back cover)
Album: VG+ (Very few minor marks, but nothing that would appear to impact play).
As far as shipping: I will be enclosing each album in its own plastic sleeve, and will package them with bubble wrap (before boxing the) to ensure the safest travel.
