Description
This very rare promotional 3LP set by the Grateful Dead is titled " Europe 1972".
It is an original U.S 1972 PRE RELEASE White Label Promotional issue [not for sale] on the WB label. The catalogue number is WX2668.
It comes in a 4 part fold out gatefold sleeve and includes the original 8 page colour photo booklet. The front cover has the original "Grateful Dead Europe '72" round sticker on it. The back cover has the original track listing sticker on it. It includes all 3 original WB/reprise inner sleeves.
In early 1972 the Grateful Dead went on a month long tour in the UK, France, Denmark, Holland and Germany.
The tour resulted in this massive 3LP live set which is one of the best periods of this band ever recorded.
This album and tour was mainly remembered for the quality and length of their jamming and this album has it in spades. It has epic long versions of "Morning Dew" and "Truckin'" and other classics in all the Deads free form glory.
Although poorly Pigpen still went on this tour [he died a year] there is a lot of good vocal stuff from him on this set. As songs like "Jack Straw" and "Tennesee Jed" show the Dead's gift for melody and lyrics.
Intermittently the Dead had their moments in the studio, but this live set captured the band as they were truly meant to be heard LIVE.

Most of the discs are in excellent condition, a couple of the sides are in very near excellent condition with just a few entirely superficial non sounding surface marks from being stored in the original warner/reprise inner sleeve. There are no scratches on the discs, they all play excellent and look fine.
The booklet is in excellent condition.
The cover is in VG+ condition with only very minor agewear which is insignificant and negligible.
