Description

Original UK United Artists/Liberty label stereo 1st press LP.

This is the first LP by the Greasy Truckers Collective, featuring Man, Brinsley Shwartz & Hawkwind (and Magic Michael) and was recorded during a live show at the Roundhouse, London in Febuary 1972. The LP was issued as a limited edition of 20,000 copies at the price of £1.50 to raise funds for a hostel and soon sold out. The highlights of the LP include the 22 minute track 'Spunk Rock' by Man and Hawkwind's 'Master Of The Universe', all recorded with no overdubs.
This is the original issue with the price sticker on the matt gatefold sleeve and the auto change linking of sides 1 & 4 on one disc and sides 2 & 3 on the other disc! This copy also has the earliest crossed out matrices on sides 2 & 3 and the A-2U, B-2U, matrices on both LP's of the very first pressings.
The Garrod & Lofthouse matt gatefold sleeve is intact & in EX condition, with some very light corner/edge wear and some light storage rubbing, with a couple of small areas of staining on the outer cover. The spine is intact and fully readable, the plain company inners are intact & in EX condition.   The records are in visually EX+ condition, with only one or two faint sleeve removal hairlines and one or two small needle scuffs/marks visible on each side. The labels are in EX+ condition, clean & bright with evidence of one or two faint spindle markings on each side.   The sound reproduction is EX+, still clear & precise throughout with no loud pops, hiss or crackle & definately no skips, sticks or jumps, but there is some low background noise during the run in grooves. Overall a really great, loud & clear listen.   The matrix nos. are; UDX-203, A-2U mother stamper 1-P, B-2U mother stamper 1-P & UDX-204, A-2U stamper 1-G, B-2U stamper 1-G.
This is one of the very early copies of the 1st pressing of the original 1972 UK stereo 1st issue of this album!
