Description
By 1985, Grover Washington Jr. had already become one of the defining crossover jazz artists of the era, helping push smooth jazz from late-night FM curiosity into mainstream radio rotation. What makes this anthology work so well is that it catches him at multiple stages of that evolution, from the deeper groove-heavy early sides through the polished urban jazz sound that made tracks like “Just the Two of Us” massive crossover staples.
A nice under-the-radar detail here is the “60415-1-E” Specialty pressing designation. Collectors often focus on the better-known SRC stampings from Specialty Records Corp because many tend to have consistently clean, punchy playback and solid vinyl quality during this mid-80s Elektra/Asylum period. The labels and deadwax on this copy line up with that family of pressings.

Vinyl presents beautifully with strong gloss and very light handling visible under bright light. Playback is NM-, clean and strong. Jacket remains highly presentable with sharp front artwork and only moderate storage wear visible from age.
A really enjoyable listening copy for jazz-fusion, quiet storm, soul-jazz, and 1980s audiophile crossover collections.
