Offered today is a lot of two light jazz recordings both on the Nautilus SuperDiscs label Grover Washington Jr. Winelight and John Klemmer's Finesse. Nautilus as most audiophiles already know was an audiophile label mostly Half speed remasters in the 1980s . Like any co. specializing in remasters some are really good some are superb and some are down right disappointing in Nautilus case the Allman Brothers At The Fillmore. was that . IMO having been to Fillmore East many times in the early 70s no remaster got that one right except the pink label first pressing. In any case Nautilus shines with both of these recordings. In the 1980 LP by Grover Washington Jr. LP Winelight the sound quality is special. A truly masterful sounding recording and the bringing together of the very high quality of the musicians for these sessions Washington was able to achieve a musical masterpiece. Most people know the fabulous collaboration between Washington and Bill Withers on Just the Two Of Us track one of the greatest tracks of any genre on any Lp.but the rest of the set list is like the title track or Take Me There makes it one of my favorite Lp ot the 80s. John Klemmer's 1981 Lp was someone I had not heard about until I purchased this album about 30 years ago. Of course, the musicianship alone makes it a great listen but when this LP was done direct to disc Like the way they did it 80 years ago one take no multi tracks no computerized sound just great music .Direct to the disc is and always will be the gold standard in recording sound reproduction. Klemmer's Lp needs to be listened to and appreciated for a great work of art one does not hear anymore .Remember, both LPs for one price and both of the vinyl are in near int condition Winelight is still in it's cellophane original protective covering.
