Description

  • Factory SEALED 1959 LP from The Guckenheimer Sour Kraut Band “Oom-Pah-Pah In Hi-Fi” (Barbary Coast BC 33005, monaural) originally released a couple of years earlier on the San Francisco label with the same catalog number.
  • The cool cartoon cover was designed by George Lichty the band’s drummer but more famous for the weekly comic Grin And Bear It.
  • This group played German traditional music but in a rather non traditional, and hilarious, way (including sometimes playing in 3/4 and 4/4 time simultaneously). After this release they actually went on to record for a national label (RCA) and retained a small, but fanatical, following.
  • The 15 song tracklist (some are misspelled on the liner notes) includes such songs as: The Blue Danube/Schuhplattler Tanze/Gaudeamus/Under The Double Eagle/Die Wacht Am Rhein and more.
  • The SEALED LP has no splits or cutouts. There is a small tear under the shrink-wrap near the cover opening.
