Released: 1987
An excellent example of the classic Guns N' Roses LP, Appetite For Destruction, in 12" vinyl record format. This early example of the band's first album features Robert Williams' controversial painting of a girl being raped by robots. Understandably, given the nature of the painting, Geffen Records were forced to withdraw the cover and replace it with the iconic G 'N R skulls and cross picture. Copies of the album with the banned cover, like the one I am selling here, are becoming more scarce as the years roll by.
The album also includes the original inner sleeve. One side of the sleeve features a montage of photos. Some shots are of the band performing live, others are of the band in promo shoots. There's a great shot of Slash wearing a Batman t-shirt and dressed in his iconic shades, hat and leather jacket; fag in mouth; the epitome of cool. The other side of the sleeve features lyrics to the songs. Whoever owned the record previously has written their name on the inner sleeve. Rather than tainting the look of the sleeve, I think this personal touch adds to its allure. It shows the LP has been loved and cherished.

Cover/Sleeve Condition (Good+): The cover is a little worn and frayed around the edges and in the corners. That said, it doesn't taint the cover image in any way. The spine is also a little worn and frayed, though the catalogue number, band name and album title can be very clearly read. I have taken some close up shots of the worst areas of wear to give you an indication of its condition. Someone has also used the cover as a rest when writing on a piece of paper. The marks that have subsequently been left are visible when you hold the cover to the light. The inner sleeve is slightly split on the lower seam. I shall deliver the record in a plastic sleeve and shall also place the vinyl itself in an anti-static sleeve.
Record Condition (Very Good+): As with all of the records I sell on eBay, I have given the record a thorough clean and played it from start to finish. It plays perfectly. There are only a couple of hairline scratches on the record and these don't affect play in any way. After cleaning the record, I held it up to the intense light of a studio lamp and, in all honesty, the hairline marks are hardly noticeable at all.
