"Appetite for Destruction" is the debut studio album by American rock band Guns N' Roses, released in July 1987 on Geffen Records. It was well received by critics and topped the American Billboard 200 chart. As of September 2008, the album has been certified 18 times Platinum by the RIAA, accumulating worldwide sales in excess of 28 million copies as of October 2008. The album is featured in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die. The album's original cover art, based on the Robert Williams painting, "Appetite For Destruction", depicted a robotic rapist about to be punished by a metal avenger. After several music retailers refused to stock the album, the label compromised and put the controversial art cover inside, replacing it with an image depicting a cross and skulls of the five band members. This record is the second pressing with the Original Cover Artwork released in 1988 to accompany the movie "The Dead Pool". Please see pic with the Promo Sticker on the album, the shrinkwrap is still on! It also comes with the Original Sticker with the skulls and crossbones..only a few copies of these contained this item. The catalog # on the spine is: XXXG 24148. The bar code matrix is: 0 7599 24148-1. The overall condition of the cover is graded as VG++/EX. The vinyl is graded as EX/EX++. I have had this since it first came out. There are no scratches and it has been well kept. Record was stored in a heavy duty anvil case since 2006 and comes from a smoke/pet free home.
