On offer here a true Mahler symphonic Rarity: a presumably perfect, still Factory Sealed copy of the Enhanced, Remastered, Audiophile Grade, 180 g. Heavy-Gauge German Vinyl, DGG Reissue Album from 2018 featuring one of the great, inimitable Leonard Bernstein's last, glorious recording triumphs: an absolutely riveting live performance (Nov., 1987) of the Mahler First Symphony with the Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam. DGG first released this astounding live performance in 1989 via a memorable Digital Stereo album. Penguin Guide calls this reading "a Monumental Achievement" and salutes this "wonderfully alert and imaginative performance...this is among Bernstein's finest Mahler issues and very well recorded." (Exactly Right!) This Enhanced, Remastered, German Digital Stereo Disk thus conveys what must be called a Reference, arguably Definitive account of Mahler's fantastic symphonic debut.
