            Thunderous heavy guitar blues/prog ripper with crushing keys and great vocals. Quite unbelievably went totally under the radar. This is heavy bluesprog GOLD!!!

Hackensack were an early 70s hard rock band that boasted  Nicky Moore on vocals and Ray Majors on guitar. Moore would later front Samson, to say nothing of Mammoth, Tiger and Electric Sun, and Majors later joined Mott, the ill-advised shell of a band that straggled along after the Hoople (i.e. Ian Hunter) left for a solo career.

Which is all very exciting, but what of Hackensack?

Well, they released one smoking single (Movin' On) in 1972, toured with Mott The Hoople, spit out their monstrous Up The Hard Way album in 1974, and then promptly broke up. In the late 90s, a couple odds'n'sods and live collections were released on Audio Archives records, but it is the strident desperado blooze of Up The Hard Way that defines the Hackensack sound. As the album rolls on, it gets progressively more mellow, devolving into drawling country-rock by the suicidal Goodbye World, but its title track remains a tough, slinky proto-metal classic."

The absolute rarity of this album is not to be underestimated. It hardly ever surfaces nowadays. This is an absolutely gorgeous slab of early quality POLYDOR vinyl which is in great condition!! This has a lovely deep glossy sheen!! Immense quality sole blues/prog album that ticks all the right boxes and incredibly hard to find. I have twentyfive years experience in grading. It doesn't get much better than this!!

!!!!A VERY HARD FIND!!! Most have been bought up by collectors!! This is hardly offered these days!!

In all my years this is only the second time I have come across this PROGMONSTER. Sensational sound quality, I have played this through in its entirety and it was a great joy!!! NO skips or jumps. NO clicks and hardly any static, this is really a stunning heavy glossy jet black vinyl .                       

Vinyl: VG++  .  A sensational find!!! I have played this in FULL twice over> The replay is ASTOUNDING!!! I first played for a general listen and a second time for a more detailed observation. Only a few wispy hairlines can be seen under a strong lightsource. Only rarely any light static can be heard, mainly between the tracks on the silent grooves. Fantastic songcraft!! I am very glad to be able to report that this is a fine slab of vinyl without any problems at all and as such worthy of inclusion of any great prog collection. I liked all tracks but the title track stood out for me.  Of course NO jumps/clicks/skips etc.

Sleeve: VG+.  The original front and back laminated sleeve has a couple of light creases and a "mini" tear on the opening of about 1 cm.  The spine is fully legible.  A small name written on the inside of the opening, only visible whilst putting the vinyl back in the sleeve. It will be a very long time before this super album will come around again with again more takers than ever before.

Inner sleeve: The original inner sleeve is still present.I has two small seam splits but is otherwise in fine condition.

***This is a unique prime investment opportunity!!! Finding this album in any condition at all is nearly impossible!!! This is  a great and seriously collectable super album!!  You will buy into a piece of  prog core history.***
