HAL KEMP & HIS ORCHESTRA*-- PARLOPHONE NY (PNY) 41309 MISS WONDERFUL // SOMEBODY MIGHTY LIKE YOU-- Condition: NM- // NM- Hal Kemp's Great Orchestra captured on "nearly lost sides", due to the release pattern and the pseudonyms used on this scarce label (* Both sides are credited to "Joe Curran's Band). Hal Kemp's pre-Brunswick years were an odd assortment of records made on dime store labels, as well well as a few for Columbia on their VERY SCARCE NY Parlophone label ALWAYS under pseudonyms that have finally been traced and confirmed. Great for us, since we hear Kemp's orchestra with his own work on alto sax, clarinet, and violin plus Earl Geiger on trumpet, Gus Mayhew on tuba, violin, Ben Williams, Horace "Saxie"Dowell, Bromo Sulser, violin, plus Skinny Ennis on drums and some vocals. What a bunch! Miss Wonderful features a full ensemble "hot dance" band sound with a great guitar around Ennis' solo (sadly, not confirmed). Great stuff. The Flip has the same great ensemble jazz, plus some solos and a vocal by what sounds like (to this collector) the California Rambler's trio, but, sadly, there is no documentation. The condition of this record is astounding, save for a pressing bubble on "Miss Wonderful, and a couple of tiny ticks, there is virtually NO NOISE AT ALL. Pressed with the beautiful Columbia "laminated" method, this one is a real jewel. DON'T LET THIS ONE GET BY YOU !!!!!

As with all records purchased from me, they are cleaned with the VPI professional Record Washing System, so the sides are free of grit and dirt and they are CLEAN!
This is part of a huge collection that I am trying to get posted on EBAY. Since there are now others posted from me, I will happy to combine orders to save shipping costs, since it costs very little more to ship six records as it does to ship one! However, any record agreed to be held, must be paid for with 48 hours, or they will be put up for second chance offers. It is impossible to tie us all of the income from "held" records, for, what could be weeks, without payment. Unless otherwise noted, records are shipped in plain manilla sleeves and shipped in heavy cardboard boxes with double pieces of cardboard top and bottom and the middle (if the the shipment is large enough) and packed with popcorn and/or bubble material.
