Okeh 8679 'NOBODY KNOWS' (WHAT THE GOOD DEACON DOES) (MATRIX 402296) 'ROLL AND TUMBLE BLUES’ (MATRIX 402306).

'Roll and Tumble Blues' by Hambone Willie Newbern was the first (and in my opinion, the best) recorded version of this venerable blues standard.  A bottleneck guitar classic. This is a very rare record and Newbern's stunning performance (together with the latter day Robert Johnson connection) has made this one of the most sought after of all pre-war blues records.  

This record has unfortunately got some hefty scratches and there a little distortion on the louder recorded passages. There a fair amount of wear and is graded in V (Very Good) (V.J.M/JOSLIN standards). There are no skips, hang-ups, cracks or other visible defects and both 'Hambone' Willie Newbern's vocal and stunning guitar come through loud and even.  

Both Labels are in V condition and are worn and a little faded (see photograph)
