Description

The Hammer –Hitchcock’s Lullaby/Doggone –EMI (1974 NL)

Condition: VG+/ G+ (wear and small writing see photo)

I was lucky enough to find a second copy of this gem, so here is my original copy. I have only ever seen these 2 copies in over 5 years of searching

Hitchcock’s Lullaby is quite a departure from Smyle’s (Mark Boon’s previous band) usual fare as the A side comes across like Alistair Riddell’s Space Waltz or The Tigers on Vaseline in maximum horror Camp Glam mode. Their image was the invention of their Manager and my guess is that he got to see a preview of Brian De Palma’s brilliant Phantom of The Paradise (check out the black and white make up worn by The Undead AKA The Juicy Fruits/ Beach Bums in that movie ). He was probably on space yoghurt at the time and his delusional plan to turn the band into a sensation included not even listing the band’s name on the cover or label! File under...god knows what –this is one of the reasons why it is so hard to find this single these days...

Grading. I don’t use the term Mint. I don’t believe that records manufactured over 30 years ago, even if unplayed, can be called mint.

Grading: Record/Cover

EX: Means either “near mint” to some light  marks with hardly any noticeable noise. Sleeve has no or only minor wear.

VG: Means means some light background noise and more pronounced marks which do not affect the listening experience in a major way. Sleeve may be creased, minor discolouring, the odd fraying, some ringwear, seam split and perhaps some  writing.

G: Means noticeable clicks or pop, may have scratches, but doesn’t skip or jump. Sleeve may be ripped, tape repair, large writing, sticker removal damage etc...

Fair: Not a pleasant listening experience, the disc is damaged, just a stop gap before upgrading. Sleeve is badly damaged, not one to frame on the wall...

Poor: I don’t sell records in poor condition

Postage: I offer reduced postage if more than 1 record is purchased: UK = 50p for each extra single, Europe =75p and USA/Asia/RoW = £1 extra. If ordering more than 1 single, please await my invoice. There was a significant increase in Royal Mail charges back  in April, I have had to adapt postage prices accordingly.

All records sent out in professional mailers with 2 stiffeners. Records removed from sleeve if housed in picture sleeve.

Insurance strongly recommended for high priced items and compulsory for packages of a value of over £80. Insurance added at cost. I retain proof of postage for all items.

Payment: UK= PayPal or cheque (item sent when cheque has cleared). Overseas =PayPal only

Thanks!
