From the archive of noted James Brown historian, Alan Leeds.
This is a super rare test pressing of the Polydor single 14166, "GONNA GET A THRILL" Parts 1 & 2 by HANK BALLARD, produced by JAMES BROWN.
Recorded in September, 1972, "GONNA GET A THRILL" features Hank Ballard's vocals over the music track from Vicki Anderson's "Super Good".. The record was assigned the Polydor release number and intended for release in November, 1972, but was cancelled before any retail copies were pressed.
The record has never been released in any form and we've never seen another copy!!!. . Plain blank white labels on each side. Title and release number hand written.
Test pressings were only distributed to Polydor Records and James Brown Productions execs thus pressed in very small numbers. Few survived as most were eventually scrapped so they can be considered very rare.
