Description
Available here is a 12" vinyl LP record by Hapshash and the Coloured Coat - Featuring The Human Host and the Heavy Metal Kids. A UK red vinyl 1st pressing, it was issued by Minit/Liberty Records in 1967 and has the catalogue number MLL 40001.
An extremely rare and collectible recording, the Discogs web site indicates that this record was issued in the UK in red vinyl, with both stereo and mono incarnations. I’m pretty sure from the sound that this one is stereo, although it’s not overly obvious and there’s no format specification anywhere on the cover or record. The mono version may have also included artwork/insert but there is no such item with this one.

Vinyl Condition - Very Good - The record is reasonably bright and clean and although there is a smattering of small, light, surface marks, there are no worrying scratches. Having listened all the way through I can confirm that there is no jumping or sticking, although a few light clicks will be heard. A little background crackle is also present at times but it’s rarely excessive or overly loud. Mainly heard during quieter moments and track breaks etc. Initials of a previous owner are discretely written on one of the central labels.
Cover/Sleeve Condition - Very Good- - Original laminated outer cover which has a little edge and corner wear with stress creasing present. The laminate film is also lifting in places along the spine edge. Inner die-cut, poly-lined, white sleeve is a discoloured by the edges and has a partial side split. An added plastic sleeve is protecting everything from additional wear.

I've since had confirmation that this is a mono recording, denoted by the MLL part of the catalogue number. Apparently, the stereo version was MLS.
