HAROLD MABERN – GREASY KID STUFF! – PRESTIGE 7764 – DISMAKERS TEST PRESSING – DG - M-/M- - STEREO

Recorded at Rudy Van Gelder’s studio on January 26, 1970, this Prestige session features Harold Mabern on piano, Lee Morgan on trumpet, Hubert Laws on tenor and flute, Buster Williams on bass, Idris Mohammad on drums and Joe Jones on guitar on (I WANT YOU BACK.) SIDE A: GREASY KID STUFF; I HAVEN’T GOT ANYTHING BETTER TO DO and XKE. SIDE B: ALEX THE GREAT; I WANT YOU BACK and JOHN NEELY-BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE. “VAN GELDER” is stamped on both sides of the blank vinyl, as well as the initials “LW”. This is a Diskmakers Test Pressing and it is a Deep Groove recording. This is a STEREO recording

I’ve rated both the LP and the record jacket as M- for the following reasons. Both sides on the vinyl are free of any marks, as is the spindle hole and surrounding area. The record jacket is in near mint condition, without any sign of wear. What puzzles me is that this test pressing is Deep Groove, but I’m certain that it was never pressed as a Deep Groove LP when it was issued. The LP will be shipped either by Media Rate @ $2.98 or by Priority Mail @ $5.80 and up depending where you reside. Overseas bidders should consider First Class Mail International.
