Description

Harry Partch-The Bewitched double LP (Gate 5 HP-101 5701) Cover is VG with a 6" seam split and a couple of smaller splits to the top flap. Not much wear though, and visually pretty stunning. The back is hand-stamped with Partch's then-current address: "Harry Partch, P.O. Box 989, Evanston Illinois." Records are a nice VG, little in the way of actual scratches but the old rice paper inners left an overall haze. Plays as well as I've ever heard an original Gate 5 sound. Both of the booklets are here: the photo booklet with pictures and descriptions of the instruments, and the booklet with the notes by Partch on the piece itself (this has the duration written in pen at the top). The cruddy old rice paper inners are here too, though the records are now in proper sleeves for protection. Beautiful self-released '50's original of this seminal Partch composition!
