HATFIELD AND THE NORTH: 1974 DEBUT LP UK VIRGIN Nr MINT BEAUTIFUL BARELY PLAYED COPY, GLOSSY GATEFOLD SLEEVE

HATFIELD AND THE NORTH
Hatfield and the North

UK VIRGIN RECORDS (V 2008) PRESSING OF HATFIELD AND THE NORTH'S TREMENDOUS, SELF TITLED PROG/JAZZ DEBUT FROM 1974

THE RECORD HAS BEEN PLAYED JUST A COUPLE OF TIMES AND DELIVERS NEAR MINT AUDIO
THE GLOSSY GATEFOLD SLEEVE IS CLEAN AND FRESH AND IS IN EXCELLENT+ CONDITION

A BEAUTIFUL COPY OF A SENSATIONAL LP IN SUPERB CONDITION AND IN ALL HONESTY I REALLY DO NOT THINK YOU WILL FIND ONE MUCH BETTER. THIS MAY NOT BE THE VERY FIRST PRESSING BUT THIS ALBUM IS VERY HARD TO FIND ON VINYL IN ANY SHAPE OR FORM - GREAT STUFF - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

MATRIX: V 2008 A-3 / V 2008 B-2U

Hatfield and the North were the supergroup of England's Canterbury progressive rock scene, with bassist and vocalist Richard Sinclair from Caravan, guitarist Phil Miller from Matching Mole, keyboardist Dave Stewart from Egg, and drummer Pip Pyle from Gong and Delivery.
This brilliant and inventive debut album is a cross between sophisticated, precisely executed jazz-rock and dry-humoured, often surreal pop.
The album consists of short pieces blended into a Zappa-like collage, providing a thematic work as good as anything even the most eccentric jazz-rock by bands like Soft Machine ever produced and indeed Robert Wyatt can be found on vocals here

Track Listing:
Side 1: The Stubbs Effect / Big Jobs (Poo Poo Extract) / Going Up To People And Tinkling / Calyx (Vocals - Robert Wyatt) / Son Of 'There's No Place Like Homerton' / Aigrette / Rifferama
Side 2: Fol De Rol / Shaving Is Boring / Licks For The Ladies / Bossa Nochance / Big Jobs No. 2 (By Poo And The Wee Wees) / Lobster In Cleavage Probe / Gigantic Land Crabs In Earth Takeover Bid / The Other Stubbs Effect

LABELS: The labels are CLEAN and BRIGHT with NO unwanted marks/writing and only a couple of (mega) light spindle traces. THIS COPY IS VIRTUALLY UNPLAYED
VINYL Visual: The vinyl still retains its DEEP, LIKE-NEW, GLOSSY SHEEN and the surfaces are UNMARKED
VINYL Audio: DEEP, RICH, CRYSTAL CLEAR SOUND. There are NO jumps, NO sticks, NO scratches and barely any ticks or pops (the quiet sections - of which there are many - play just about as silently as vinyl possibly can). Plays BEAUTIFULLY THROUGHOUT to an extremely high standard with GREAT CLARITY, NO distortion and NO groove-wear (it's hardly been played). Very critically graded NEAR MINT for audio. TREMENDOUS LP and NOT over-graded in ANY way as I use strict RECORD COLLECTOR grading standards (please refer to my feedback and 'about me' page)
SLEEVE: The sleeve is in EXCELLENT+ condition. CLEAN and BRIGHT with minimal wear and a straight and true spine with all text CLEAR and BOLD. The front surface has a couple of small indentation marks - nothing major otherwise, lovely sleeve
