Description
Hawkwind, Hall Of The Mountain Grill LP
UAG 29672, 1974
Made in England
Matrixes A-2U / B-2U [pressed by EMI]
Weight of this Record: 164 grams. An extraordinary weight for this album and label. Barely any mid-1970s on standard black vinyl were issued anything like this weight. This is an unusual example of this classic early Hawkwind album in all respects.
Most copies are found on the cream and paler brown US format. As seen, this copy has the lemon yellow labels which are scarce. Also the cover is FULLY LAMINATED, most are seen in basic matt sleeves. The difference this makes is substantial, the entire artwork is much more vivid and bright. Few were issued laminated and are rarely found. Printed and made in England.
Vinyl is a very strong Excellent ++
Playback is wonderful
Sleeve is Excellent, does have some corner wear, some creasing to front and small area of laminate lift on back, please see photos.
Comes with plain white Inner
Labels: Some rippling to middle Side 1
Musicians: Dave Brock – lead guitar, 12-string guitar, synthesiser, organ, harmonica, vocals; Lemmy – bass, vocals, guitars; Simon House – synthesiser, Mellotron, violin; Nik Turner – saxophone, oboe, flute, vocals; Simon King – drums, percussion; Del Dettmar – keyboards, synthesiser, kalimba.
Brief Info: The fourth studio Hawkwind album and again with a few new members including Simon House, formerly of High Tide. This was arguably the strongest line-up this band ever had – the ‘Lemmy-era’ – the material was getting a little more polished for sound and the songs very strong. It sold quite well and peaked at 16 in the UK album charts, many regard this as one of their finest ever albums. This an immense and impressive copy that plays great. Including the rarer Lemon yellow labels and a massive pressing weight with a supreme fully laminated cover, a brilliant example for all fans of these ever-popular acid-space-rockers.
