Description

Howard Menger–Authentic Music From Another Planet (Gold-A Records 212) Vinyl is a strong VG+ (closer to VG++) and plays a clean VG++ to M-. Record comes in a blank red jacket in M- shape with a 1 x 2.5 inch piece of paper that's taped onto the top left corner with the cryptic “from Saucerian Press, Inc., Box 2228, Clarksburg, A. VA 26301.”
This is quite possibly one of the most bizarre Outsider LPs ever released. Period! If you are unfamiliar with this, check out “Howard Menger ?– Authentic Music From Another Planet” on Discogs and it will document what is on this disc.
Side One contains a long narration by Howard Menger which is followed by two instrumental musical tracks “Marla” and “Theme From The Song From Saturn.” Both of these are written and performed by Marla Baxter and played on … get this … solo accordion.
Side Two is just music with one lengthy 18-plus minute composition written by Menger called “The Song From Saturn (Music From Another Planet).” And it is definitely other worldly musical noodling on solo piano direct from his obsessed UFO-conspiracy-theory mind.  The LP first pressing from 1957 came with a cover (which you can see on the Discogs listing) and was released on Slate Enterprises, Inc LP X211. I assume that the album I am selling on eBay is an authorized second pressing from the late ‘50s or ‘60s which never was issued with a cover. What’s weird is that there is nothing I can find online about this particular Gold-A pressing (and it’s definitely not a recent reissue or bootleg). If anyone has any additional information on this odd authentic pressing please share it with me since I’d like to know the story behind it.  I’ve scanned the labels so you can see what is looks like on both sides.

 Menger claims to have met and travelled with extra-terrestrial visitors who he says are friendly and are very spiritual beings. And how they are “now in our midst,” are “only here to help you” and are “peace loving people.” OK Howard, I totally believe you after hearing this oblique and cryptic album!
