Description
This album features vocals by the legendary Helen Merrill. The self-titled lp was released in 1955 on Emarcy MG36006. She is joined by trumpet player Clifford Brown,Jimmy Jones,Clark Terry,Barry Galbraith,Milt Hinton,Osie Johnson and Bobby Donaldson. Arrangements are by Quincy Jones. Vinyl is on the original drummer logo label with the recording dates on the side and grades at vg++. It has a couple of light scuffs and a real nice shine. Overall play is real fine but there are two cuts that have a very light tick that does not overpower the music. It only lasts for a short duration. Like I said the rest of the play is great and the fidelity of the lp really holds up. It is understandable why this lp is so collectable when you here some of Helen's amazing phrasing. Will start off with a higher than usual minimum due to its' rarity and shape. Cover is a strong vg with some soiling on the back but a front picture that grades at vg++.
