Description
What can I say? Everybody knows the Helmettes' "I don't care what the people say"/ "Half 2" is the greatest and one of the rarest Dutch punk 45s ever, and up til now I've only ever seen beer- and coffee-stained scratched (cracked, even) copies of this record up for auction. I wonder what kind of a punk the former owner of this copy must have been, because this one's in near perfect condition! Vinyl looks unplayed (pristine labels as well), I'd give it NM, never heard those tunes as nice and clear as on this copy. Sleeve is almost as new, no damage whatsoever, just a slight bit of yellowing as you can see on the scan (which is untampered with, it really looks like that!). A bit of history: the Helmettes started as a one-off project when Hansje Joustra, owner of the legendary No Fun record store in Amsterdam, put some of the craziest guys he knew in a studio. Singer was the legendary 14-year old Half 2 ("That's my IQ!"), who also penned the great lyrics.
On Dec-22-06 at 13:15:07 PST, seller added the following information: I see this record's going through the roof, so I feel I have to reassess my bold statement about this one being Near Mint; while it plays almost perfectly, (today) I saw some very tiny hairline scratches on the vinyl surface. Which should probably rate this one EX? Just so you know... Can't change the "NM" in the item's title anymore, so I hope this will do, sorry!
