EXTREMELY RARE ORIGINAL 1957 FRENCH ODEON 7" EP PAIR

A matching pair of consecutive French Odeon releases by the legendary violinist Henryk Szeryng, accompanied by pianist Tasso Janopoulo.

Issued in France in 1957 as AOE 1048 and AOE 1049, these scarce EPs bring together seven virtuoso violin works by Paganini, Sarasate, Serratos, Ponce, Wieniawski and Falla. Both retain their distinctive original French picture sleeves featuring portraits of Szeryng by the renowned Studio Harcourt.

The two consecutive releases are seldom encountered individually and are particularly difficult to find offered together as a matching pair.

CONDITION

Records: strong VG+ visually

Both records retain a beautiful, glossy appearance with only light signs of careful use. They have been fully play-tested and play well throughout, with light surface crackle consistent with original 1950s pressings. It does not overpower the music.

The labels retain their original French radio-archive stickers and handwritten catalogue numbers.

Both original sleeves remain attractive and present very well from the front, with vivid colours and clear artwork. They show moderate age-related edge and corner wear, light creasing and some handwritten archive notations. The reverse sides retain their original French radio-archive stickers, catalogue numbers and other archival markings.
