Description
Rare original 1968 WLP copy of the folky psych rock LP from JUDY HENSKE & JERRY YESTER titled "Farewell Aldebaran" on FRANK ZAPPA's Straight Records label (stereo STS 1052). Fuzz, Acid & Flowers has this to say about the group: "First known as a member of the MODERN FOLK QUARTET, Jerry Yester cut two folk/pop singles in 1966 and 1967. When the MFQ broke up, he replaced Zalman Yanovsky in The LOVIN' SPOONFUL. After the Spoonful's demise in 1969 Yester made the above album with his wife, Judy Henske, a traditional folk singer with a long recording career in her own right. The album, which was released on Frank Zappa's label, is excellent and worthy of acclaim. Ry Cooder and David Lindley also probably play on it. A multi-talented figure, Yester is also known as the producer and engineer of several California groups and singers: The Association (who included his brother Jim), The Turtles, Tim Buckley, Tom Waits, Rainbow Red Oxidiser etc." The LP is in VG+ condition, with some paper scuffing and minor scratches which do not affect play, and nice sheen. The groovy psychedelic gatefold cover is in VG+ condition, with some slight scuffing, the start of a seam split at bottom and slightly dinged corners with a bit of paper scuffed off along the opening on back cover. Promo sticker on LR of back cover as well. A very nice white label promo copy of this scarce album. Photos below shows partial scans of front & back covers, as well as white labels.
