Herbie Armstrong 'Back Against the Wall' - Nimbus Supercut LP (NM/NM) 

Welcome to our auction for an extremely rare Nimbus Supercut pressing of Bernie Armstrong's classic 1980s rock album 'Back Against the Wall'. If you are into audiophile vinyl, Nimbus Supercut LPs need no introduction and are some of the best vinyl pressings sonically that have ever been available.

Nimbus Supercut LPs were released as part of a special promotion available only to readers of Practical Hi-Fi and Hi-Fi today magazines in the UK during the early 1980s. They also pressed some albums exclusively for MMC Recordings, these being even rarer than the mail order releases. All the Nimbus Supercut releases were only available in limited quantities and are now even rarer than releases from Mobile Fidelity, Nautilus, DCC and similar. Nimbus Records established the need for high quality record releases, as most mainstream vinyl at the time was haphazardly mastered from poor master copies and pressed on poor quality recycled vinyl. In contrast with this release, Nimbus Records went back to the original master tapes for an all-analog pressing, for the best version of this album ever available. Nimbus Records also had the ICI company produce an extremely pure vinyl for the LPs, which has better frequency reproduction and is virtually noise free! The rock/pop beats and impact and timing of each instrument on this pressing has to be heard to be believed!

The LP was originally recorded onto cassette and as such has only been played a couple of times. The vinyl is stunning near mint condition. The cover and poly-lined inner sleeve are also near mint (NM/NM). Bidding will start at only 99p, so someone will get a definite bargain.

About the artist/album

'Herbie Armstrong was born in Belfast, spent much of his early youth playing in Irish showbands before graduating to the English 'scene' with screaming Lord Sutch. He has since played and recorded with Fox, Yellow Dog, and more recently, Van Morrison. This is his first solo project. Herbie Armstrong put together an album which combines all of the electronic sophistication of todays computer world with the emotive power of a live performance. the combination enables the music to move into new areas of acoustic and electronic expression'. The album is similar in many ways to Peter Gabriel at his best, but the album is much rarer.
