"MAIDEN VOYAGE" - - HERBIE HANCOCK - - BLUE NOTE BLP 4195 - - MAGNIFICENT SESSION, PROBABLY HANCOCK'S FINEST EVER ON THIS 1ST PRESS USA BLUE NOTE LP !!! - - Awesome stuff from Hancock on piano, with Freddie Hubbard, tpt, George Coleman, tenor, Ron Carter, bass and Anthony Williams on drums!!! - - A fantastic "suite" written totally by hancock, painting vivid and exciting pictures thru this superb jazz odyssey !!! - - An unbelievable and incredible empathy exists within this quintet, asthough at oft times they are one!!! - - Magnificent soloing thruout by all members is the order of the day. - - Trax are: "Maiden Voyage", "The eye of the hurricane", "Little One", "Survival of the fittest" & his now classic, "Dolphin dance" - - The disc carries the New York address label, with Van Gelder and ear in the dead wax.   The labels are superb and the disc plays 99% perfect.  Side 2 does have a few marks, but only by a couple of VERY  MINOR tics in only a couple of places, this is superb listening !!! - - The jacket has NO SPLITS or TEARS, but a slight scuffing on the front cover ! - - A magic LP and a first pressing not to be missed!!! - - Started as usual, with no reserve, Thankyou for your interest and good luck! - - £19.99
