HERBIE NICHOLS “The Prophetic Herbie Nichols Vol. 1” 1955 10” Mono Blue Note “RVG” Vinyl
This is the 1955, Mono, “RVG” etched, Deep Groove, Flat Rim, “767 Lexington Ave,” “P,” First Pressing of HERBIE NICHOLS’ “The Prophetic Herbie Nichols Vol. 1” on Blue Note BLP 5068.
Flat Rim VINYL has excellent gloss. Music signal is strong, clean, non-distorted. A few non-feelable marks. Low level pops and ticks. “767 Lexington Ave” Deep Groove labels are clean with minimal spindle marks. See photos.
This EXTREMELY RARE, 10-inch recording shows Nichols’ ill-fated genius at full strength, supported by the great Art Blakey and Al McKibbon. Unheralded at the time of release, Nichols' Blue Note recordings have gained recognition as highly original and ground-breaking. “The music is virtually unclassifiable, and although largely straight-ahead, sounds unlike anything produced by Herbie Nichols' contemporaries. Essential music".
10” JACKET is in very good shape. Seams and spine solid. Frame cover has some glue residue, may be possible to remove. Back jacket shows aging, wear. Please see photos.
Bass – Al McKibbon, Drums – Art Blakey, Piano – Herbie Nichols
All records cleaned on ProJect VCS vacuum and/or Audio Desk System Glass ultrasonic record cleaner. Records photographed prior to cleaning.
