STUNNING original UK STEREO pressing of what might be perhaps the BEST British baroque popsike album of the 60's.  Honeybus's lone LP, 1969's "Story", on the UK Deram label.  An absolute stone-cold MASTERPIECE for fans of melodic pop - just ask Gorky's Zycotic Mynci, who covered "Fresher than the Sweetness in Water" for their Blue Trees EP.  The original's on here, and sounds just as fresh and sweet as Gorky's cover.  And that's the great thing about the songs on Honeybus's album - since they don't rely on psychedelic gimmickry or studio trickery, the songs themselves stand or fall solely on their melodies and craftsmanship, and 80 percent of 'em stand tall.  And even though this was recorded in 1969, it STILL sounds fresh and vital today, like something the Super Furry Animals or the Long Winters might record.  Some of the best songs out of the entire late 60's popsike genre are on here, including the perfect "Under the Silent Tree" (as featured on Psychedelic Pstones), "She's Out There" and "How Long", and at times the band's uncanny way with a hook and melody sound like Badfinger before there really was a Badfinger.  For those who prefer the heavier, crunchier side of English pop, Honeybus throw a couple your way too, most notably the excellent "She Said Yes", which rumbles along like vintage Chocolate Soup material, with plenty of trippy minor keys to keep your world spinning in a psychedelic haze.  But for the most part, the band excels at bright and breezy acoustic pop, and while "Piper at the Gates of Dawn" and "S.F.
