Description

Original 1963 stereo test pressing of HAPPY FRAME OF MIND by HORACE PARLAN, a Blue Note album that was not released at the time. In the ‘70s, it was first issued as part of a Booker Ervin double album with a different mastering and pressing plant.

The label is from Blue Note’s pressing plant Plastylite and has written on it BST 84134, 5-2-63. VAN GELDER is stamped in the run-off groove.

Condition is VG+. Like many test pressings, it plays with light ticks. But there are marks at the beginning of both sides made by a polybag inner sleeve. As a result, the LP plays with intermittent light crunches.

ONLY 25 TEST PRESSINGS WERE MADE OF EACH BLUE NOTE TITLE.

JOHNNY COLES, trumpet; BOOKER ERVIN, tenor sax; GRANT GREEN, guitar;
HORACE PARLAN, piano; BUTCH WARREN, bass; BILLY HIGGINS, drums.
