Label:  BLUE NOTE.  Monaural pressing on medium weight vinyl.  Label is blue & white, with deep groove.  Catalog number is BLP 1589.

Label address is “BLUE NOTE RECORDS * 47 WEST 63RD * NYC.”  RVG is stamped in the runout groove.  Matrix number is etched, also “9M” is etched on both sides.

NOTE:  This album came from the estate of a passionate LP and autograph collector who traveled extensively to personally have his albums signed by the individual performers.  I purchased a significant number of signed albums from this collection, and can personally attest to their authenticity.  I stand behind every autographed item I sell, with a full guarantee of satisfaction. 

This album was personally signed on the front panel by jazz icon HORACE SILVER.  It reads “To Joe – Best Wishes – Horace Silver”

Condition: 

DISC:  Vinyl is nice VG++ with full original gloss.  There are a couple slight hairline paper scuffs.  Would grade EXCELLENT, but there is 1 tiny feelable mark on Side 2, Track 1.  Overall plays very enjoyably.  Labels are clean. 

JACKET:  Jacket is nice VG+.   Front panel is clean with nice bold autograph in black marker, displays nicely.    

There is rubbing wear along seams, and approx 1” chipping at left side of top seam.  Small chip missing at bottom right corner.  Reverse has noticeably darkened and there is light soiling at bottom.

“For a brief time, tenor saxophonist Clifford Jordan and trumpeter Art Farmer were the frontline of the Horace Silver Quintet.  This finds the group (which also includes bassist Teddy Kotick and drummer Louis Hayes) performing five of Silver's lesser-known originals and the standard "Ill Wind."  The lyrical Farmer and the up-and-coming Jordan have plenty of fine solos, as does the influential Silver, whose funky, witty style stood apart from the prevailing Bud Powell influence of the era.  Although none of the newer songs caught on as standards, this set (which has plenty of mood and groove variation) holds together very well and still sounds fresh 40 years later.”
