HORACE SILVER QUINTET & TRIO "Blowin’ The Blues Away", RVG, DG, P, Blue Note 4017 Mono Vinyl
This is the first edition, 1959, “RVG" stamped, Deep Groove, "P" pressing of HORACE SILVER QUINTET & TRIO’s "Blowin’ The Blues Away on the "47 West 63rd" labels of Blue Note BLP 4017. Musicians include is Horace Silver – piano, Blue Mitchell – trumpet, Junior Cook - tenor saxophone, Gene Taylor – bass, Louis Hayes – drums.
VINYL plays with consistent low to mediuim level surface noise (i.e, static, ??, or
????
relative to the volume of the music/instruments) with occasional ticks, but the instruments are very dynamic, clear and present with clear transients, powerful extension and full tone. No distortion. No skips. Both sides have good gloss. Many hairline marks, none feelable. See photos. The Deep Groove “47 West 63rd" labels are largely clear and clean, with spindle marks under direct light. Original Inner sleeve. See photos.
LAMINATED COVER is in excellent condition. Corners worn. See photos. Spine, top and lower seams excellent condition, some wrinkling on spine, no splits. See photos. “BLUE NOTE RECORDS INC., 47 West 63rd St., New York 23" back jacket excellent, “Gay” in green marker. See photos.
This LP was play-tested on a high-end system consisting of Music Hall MMF-7.3 turntable/Ortofon Bronze cartridge, Heed Audio Elixir integrated amplifier, and Quad S2 speakers (with very revealing ribbon tweeters). ALL RECORDS CLEANED ON VPI INDUSTRY STANDARD VPI 16.5 VINYL CLEANING MACHINE.
