1968 HORACE SILVER (featuring the brilliant Stanley Turrentine) gem on US 1st press Blue Note label : excellent plus condition vinyl - thick, weighty and completely flat and in normal daylight comes across as virtually unmarked, giving off an impressive lustre and retaining a lovely jet black sheen. With close inspection under a bright light a few very, very light and faint paper scuff marks come into view on each side but there is nothing feelable and nothing to impinge upon the excellent stereo audio quality. Very good plus (VG+) condition 1st press labels, with the only marks being just a few very small and extremely faint spindle trails adjacent to the centre hole on each label and some ink running/smudging on the side 2 label (see photos). Very good (VG) condition non-laminated thick cardboard outer gatefold sleeve with firm edges and no creasing. There is obvious scuffing on each edge including the top and bottom of the spine where the top 4cm and bottom 2cm is pure cardboard, so please do take a close look at the accompanying photos. The opening edges remain firm with no fraying, each corner remains a nice right angle but there is scuffing on each and the photos, art work, colours and sleeve text remain nicely intact with great definition still. Excellent (EX) STEREO audio quality with no skips, sticks, jumps, repeats, interference or distortion, and any background crackle is at an absolute minimum with just the hint of some very, very minor crackle during the dead wax run-in to each side. There is the occasional very light background click (slightly more prevalent on side 2) but careful checking reveals no obvious cause at all (the vinyl has no scratches) so I can only put this down to the odd speck of dust caught in the grooves through decades of storage - I am sure that a proper clean would completely remedy this even though the clicks are only very occasional, sporadic and do not impinge upon the excellent sound quality. Great tone with crystal clear audio quality throughout and every track a great listen. Horace Silver (piano), Stanley Turrentine (tenor sax), Charles Tolliver (trumpet) and Billy Cobham (drums) in great form!
Comes complete with plain white poly-lined inner sleeve.
