Hot Tuna

'S/T'

RCA, UK, 1970

SF 8125

FORMED BY Jefferson Airplane members Jack Cassidy and Jorma Kaukonen as extra curricular activity outside of the mothership. It was also a chance for the duo to play authentic finger picking blues, rag time and country.  As a side project it soon developed beyond its initial expectations with the band developing an entirly new and different following away from the Airplane.

The music here is a marvellous combination of trad accoustic blues and haunting American folk music. Recorded live, the ten tracks consist of eight covers and just two self penned numbers all of which glow with life and vitality and are highlighted by Kaukonen's incredibly profficient finger picked guitar. The dexterity, feel and execution is stunningly impressive.

This auction is part of a fantastic collection of seventies rock which I was lucky enough to acquire. Most of these records were stored with the utmost care and sparsely played. Some were possibly never played or may have been for just a handful of times.
