Description
For auction is HOWARD McGHEE's "The Return OF Howard McGhee" on Bethlehem BCP 42, MONO, DG, 1956. With Sahib Shihiab, Duke Jordon, Percy Heath and Philly Joe Jones.
SOUND: VG+
It has been machine-cleaned and I listened to both sides completely. I was VERY pleasantly surprised by the playback, as the vinyl looked a bit worn. There is a trace amount of background noise underneath, most of the time inaudible, but more recognizable in A5, "You're Teasing Me" and, B3, "Don't Blame Me." But, overall, the record plays excellent, with fairly clean, crisp sound! Really a great listen, you won't be disappointed.
VINYL: VG
Visually, the vinyl has numerous hairline marks and scuffs on both sides. Only one mark that is feel-able, that is associated with A5. However, as I alluded above, the playback is quite good, really a notch better than the visual. Whoo-hoo!
This is on deep-grooved maroon Bethlehem labels in very nice condition. Each side is stamped, "sample."
COVER: VG/VG+
The spine is starting to split a little bit in the center. Other than that, all edges around are still solid, with moderate wear. As well, the corners have moderate wear/bumps. Front and back covers are clean and unmarked (except for a "promo" stamp on back) and have only minor, routine aging or wear. Overall, nice. A bit of the laminate is lifting from the front left edge though...
The photos are of the exact record up for bids. Look before you bid, ask if you want any additional info or pics.
I loved this record! A great performance that plays excellent. No reserve, bidding starts at $10.
Every record I auction has been cleaned on a Nitty Gritty vacuum/cleaner. I played every record to determine if there are static, tics, pops, hisses, what have you. I endeavor to thoroughly report any extraneous audio "noise" or problems of any significance. Other than that, I will report on the general condition of each record, both vinyl and jacket, according to Goldmine standards, to the best of my ability.
Every record is put into a new, clean sleeve insert. In the case of an interesting original sleeve insert, I'll include that in the sale.
If you're into this stuff, you might want to save me to your seller's list and check back periodically. I'll be putting a lot of vintage jazz records up for auction. I'm not a collector, nor an audiophile, but I think they are desirable if you're into this kind of material. Click "see other items" and thanks for looking!
