Description
HOWLIN' WOLF LP SINGS THE BLUES. This copy a 1962 US MONO PRESSING on the CROWN LABEL CAT# CLP5241. The record was originally released on a black Crown label, and quickly pressed again with this label. His sound, created early with the help of Sam Phillips at Sun Studios. It was the great Ike Turner who was working as a talent scout for Sun records in the early 50s that brought him to Sun. Phillips recorded some 78's, and they did so well that he was able to sell his contract to Chess. And that was where he belonged anyway. He stayed with Chess throughout his career. Labels like Crown, Kent, and United would buy out songs from artist's labels, and package them like this one. They were largely from earlier recordings that were released originally on 78. This is an amazing record, and pretty rare in this playing condition. Personally, I can't get enough Howlin' Wolf in my life.
COVER is VG Has tape on seams and spine, and back cover is toned
VINYL is NM. A ridiculously clean and shiny copy that plays as beautifully. There's a little surface sound between tracks.
