HUMAN LEAGUE Dare! - 1981 UK limited edition vinyl Picture Disc LP, with black background, including Don't You Want Me, The Sound Of The Crowd and Love Action. Complete with original insert. VP2192
The picture disc, with black background, is housed in a white die-cut sleeve with lyrics on the reverse & complete with picture insert.
There is a faint (yet visible) water stain on the back, but the printed lyrics and acknowledgements can be read clearly. The sleeve and insert both have some warping to the edge, but this does not affect the artwork, which is striking and emblematic, or the quality of the vinyl. The disc is near as new and may be unplayed.
The "Made in England" tag remains on the record, but is easily removeable.
Dare, produced by veteran producer Martin Rushent at Genetic Sound Studios in Reading, was a shift from The Human League’s avant-garde electronic music style akin to contemporaries such as Cabaret Voltaire, and towards a genre-defining synth-pop sound fitting with the burgeoning New Romantic scene.
In fact, Dare would produce four hit singles, notably the international hit “Don’t You Want Me”, which is perhaps one of the most recognizable songs of the 1980s. This ultimately led to the album reaching number 1 in the UK and selling over 3 million copies.
