HUMAN ZOO 's/t' LP (US, Cicadelic Records, Catalogue #CICLP-9668) Brand new/unplayed copy of limited year 2011 Cicadelic Records label LP edition of rare 1969 Psych LP by Los Angeles based band The Human Zoo (originally released on the obscure Accent label.)

'For the first time since its original release in 1970, an exact re-issue of The Human Zoo album, taken from the original master tapes, with all the album artwork faithfully replicated! As was the case with label-mates The Human Expression, The Human Zoo were also from the Los Angeles suburbs of Westminster and were also signed to Accent Records. (In fact, the connection between the two bands is greater still, as The Human Zoo were managed by Jim Foster of The Human Expression). The Human Zoo were originally called The Circus; they changed their name to the hipper sounding Human Zoo in 1969. Their album from the following year was pressed in limited numbers and has become a mega-rare collectors item. And what of it? The Human Zoo album is a surprising and quirky blend of psychedelic (trippy), garage (fuzz-guitar) and funky music. The musical diversity, once the cause of some peoples griping, is the records greatest asset in this age of one song downloadable wonderment. The band had chops, could put together a really good song, and did so repeatedly on this sole album. This replica LP edition is limited to 500 copies, which will last about as long as it takes you to read this description... so please order quickly to avoid disappointment.'

'A six-man group with two vocalists who start the album with tense shouts. Trippy organ adds to the psychedelic sound created throughout side 1, with the closing "Funny" the best track thanks to its very strong melody. Side 2 opens with the excellent fuzz and tough vocals of "Late To My Resurrection", followed by an abomination of bad imitation backwards vocals. Thankfully the next track is a nice angst-filled vocal with tough Southern stylings. Good things continue with the best track, "Stone Sassy Fox", where psych and cool Southern rock blend for our pleasure. The title track comes on like gang-busters with psychedelic lyrics recited with a teen feel. Finally, "The Time Was Over" ends the trip on a downbeat coda.
