Description

This is the original Van-Gelder-stamped mono Plastylite test pressing for Hank Mobley “Dippin’” on Blue Note BLP 4209. What makes this unusual – if not unique – is the presence of the “P” in the dead wax, which was absent from all issued copies; obviously, between the time the test pressing was made and the commercial copy was released, Blue Note had discontinued using Plastylite. Side 1 is in beautiful condition, with a high luster; Side 2 had three light inaudible handling marks, a small mark at the beginning of Track 2 that produces two tics, and what appears to be a pressing defect on Track 3 that is nearly inaudible. Personnel include Lee Morgan, Harold Mabern, Larry Ridley, and Billy Higgins. WE NOW ACCEPT PAYPAL. However, you can continue to pay directly to us using VISA, MasterCard or Discover credit cards, if you prefer.
