Description

Blue Note Records # BLP 1540 (mono)

Hank Mobley Sextet
w/ Donald Byrd, Lee Morgan, Horace Silver,
Paul Chambers & Charlie Persip.

Tracks are;
Touch and Go
Double Whammy
Barrel of Funk
Mobleymania

LP was originally released in 1957.
The address on the labels is 767 Lexington Ave NYC
No R, No Inc, No Deep Groove, Yes RVG (etched)
I'm going to speculate that this is a high quality Japanese
issue, probably from the late 70s (?)

 "RVG" is etched in the dead wax on both sides, as well as
BN-LP-1540-A & B etched on their respective sides. There
also appears the 9 above the M on both sides.

The condition of the record is pretty clean - some very mild
sleeve burn visible, but not audible.
Otherwise, no scuffs. We don't see any spindle marks.
Plays nice and loud and clean!
The cover is in excellent EX condition, no seam or spine splits, or holes.
It is in (opened) shrink wrap!

Jacket also has the Lexington address.
(See photos for more detail)

````````````````````````````````````````````````LP PACKAGING
We package our LPs in a thick cardboard LP mailer. We ALWAYS take the LP out of the jacket to
avoid any seam splitting that could occur in shipment. We put the LP and the jacket in an LP plastic sleeve.
We float the LP between cardboard and 2 sheets of bubble wrap. We use shipping tape on all
spines to protect the integrity of the box, and to insure the safety of the contents.
All this is included in the low shipping price. We will clean your purchase on our
VPI machine if and when necessary. This insures that you receive your item in the best possible condition.
In the tradition of the best politicians, I apologize for mis-spelling Mr Morgan's name in the title. eBay won't let me change it because there are bids on the item.
Sorry...:)
On Oct-22-15 at 07:09:49 PDT, seller added the following information:
A kind watcher sent us this message that hopefully sets this straight;
Japanese pressings did not have RVG or other signs in the run-out that indicated the use of the original cuts.
This issue here has been produced in 1966/67 just after liberty record took over.
They reissued parts of the 1500 series by using the original RVG cuts and leftover stock labels.
beautiful sounding those ;)Thanks to Fred for cluing us in. Hope this helps any watchers / bidders. Orbit
